The anti-climatic game

Well we saw the tournament open this year with what was supposed to be a great feature game, Ireland Vs Sudan.  This game was supposed to be a thriller, but ended up being...well nothing really rhymes well with thriller so I will just say ugly.  It was scrappy from the beginning.  Ireland got lucky with two free kicks on the top of the box in the first few minutes of the first half to go up 2-nil.  However, what happened after that fell very short of quality soccer.  Ireland, which should have been a strong organized squad fell apart after the speed of Sudan made them panick.  It was like watching a cheap tent in the wind, folding and flapping about.

Sudan, who had the potential to stun Ireland fell short after a series of missed free kicks were wasted at the top of the box.  Which by the way were all taken by the same player.  Really, honestly, when are teams going to learn to get a new shooter, I hate to say it but he sucked, and making us watch that pitifull display of talent was not worth the $7.00 to get in or the cost of my beer.

TIP:

Ireland: next time you play and fast, and very tall squad you might want to keep the ball out of the air and not let them turn.  To have to mention this pissed me off!

Sudan: Try taking advantage of you free kicks, maybe try different shooters, and remember there are no TSN cameras in the building so there will be no TSN turning points on the 11pm sports recap so just put the ball in the back of the net.
